Little Shanghai Salad – Vegan Breakfast at Boogaloos in San Francisco California USA

This may not be a conventional breakfast, but this is what sounded good to me at the time … Little Shanghai Salad – Vegan Breakfast at Boogaloos in San Francisco California USA. The salad comes with sliced fresh apples, greens, cucumbers, cabbage, peanut sauce and green onions. The menu notes that grilled tofu can be added to the salad for two dollars more. However, as I had plenty of tofu to eat at home, I opted for a side dish of spicy black beans (frijoles cubanos) instead. Delish!

Most breakfast places in the San Francisco Bay Area don’t have a lot for vegan options. Boogaloo’s on Valencia Street does have a few vegan items, which is better than most. Vegan soy rizo hash, scrambled tofu with peanut sauce, and vegan quesadillas (no cheese). No vegan pancakes, of course. (I believe the only place in San Francisco for vegan pancakes is St. Francis Fountain.)

For more of a lunch item, Boogaloos has vegan fajitas made with tofu strips, Nicky’s polenta served with tasty tomato sauce, cabbage and vegetables, and the Little Shanghai Salad.

Most of the items on the menu include animal products, but it’s a nice vibe at Boogaloos. Since they do have some vegan items, including black beans and tofu for protein … and I believe quite a few items here are gluten-free, for those who need that … I believe there is something here for just about everyone.
