Leftovers for breakfast and dinner on New Year’s Day, swing dancing outdoors at the park

Today I’m sharing pictures of the leftovers plates that I made for breakfast and dinner, on New Year’s Day, when my husband and I went Swing Dancing outdoors at Lindy In the Park.

My leftovers plate above was the Stokes purple sweet potatoes, regular orange Garnet sweet potatoes, lemon butter black pepper brussels sprouts, and mashed potatoes and vegan cream gravy. I ate this while we were zooming along in the car.

See photo below, taken while we were driving through San Francisco. Check out those blue skies. It was our one day of blue skies during a period of maybe two weeks with gray skies and/or rain every day. I stayed up until around 9 AM producing content for the blog so I only got a chance to sleep between 9 AM and 11:30 AM. I totally could’ve slept longer but I chose not to because it’s winter time and it would get dark around 4:30 or 5 PM. I knew that if we wanted to go out and enjoy that sunshine, this was our time. Therefore, I got motivated and got dressed, packed up these leftovers in a plate, and told my husband I was ready to go;; then we got out the door to go dancing in the sunshine. Hooray !

To be honest, I’m pretty impressed that I look this good at age 48, on only 2 1/2 hours of sleep, and without combing my hair or having any make up on! (By the way, I don’t dye my hair, yet, and i haven’t worn any make up other than lipstick in probably five years or more. I would really like to wear make up, but I stopped wearing it because I’ve been so busy producing online content, on top of my job, my rental properties, the alumni association, my charity foundation, and everything else I’m doing .., I have very little time for personal maintenance. I only wash my hair maybe once a week because I just have time for a quick shower in and out, and that’s it. It’s a struggle finding time to brush my teeth and floss, but I’m working on that one. If I want to keep my teeth in my old age, if I live to be old anyway, I just have to make time for it! But putting on make up is not going to help me stay strong and healthy in my old age so that’s something I can easily skip. I haven’t figured out if I’m going to dye my hair when the white hair starts really taking over, or not. I’ve never dyed my hair so I don’t know how much time it takes, but if it takes a lot of time, no doubt I will skip it.)

More blue skies when we arrived at the park! Sometimes it’s sunny in our neighborhood but foggy in the park, however it was not the case on New Year’s Day! Blue skies everywhere!

At the park, the dancing was really fun, DJ’ed dance music and lessons. It’s excellent exercise, I hope that more people in the USA will take time to learn to dance like this. Sure, you can also get your exercise by hiking or running on a treadmill, or going up and downstairs, but nothing beats the joy of dancing to music outdoors, in the sunshine or under the stars or even in the rain.

The swing dance bar is right here by the de Young Museum. Every Sunday (except Bay to Breakers) from 11 AM to 2 PM. Lindy In the Park.
This band shell is where we used to go for dancing at Lindy In the Park, years ago.
Statues outside the de Young Museum. Check out those blue skies!
Love these scarlet orange- red flowers near the de Young Museum. In Golden Gate park.
This is where we were! Dancing by the trees!
My husband and I went for a little walk after the dancing was over, just because I wanted to enjoy the sunshine a little bit more.

When I got home, I heated up another plate of leftovers. More mashed potatoes with vegan cream gravy, some white beans, red beans, Stokes purple sweet potato, Garnet orange sweet potato, vegan ham slices from the Asian grocery store, and a whole bunch of lemon butter black pepper brussels sprouts.

Check out my sleeping when I got home Sunday night. More than 11 hours of sleep. Woo hoo!

Hopefully going forward I can do a lot better with my sleep schedule in 2023. That would be a good New Year’s resolution for me. Get at least seven hours of sleep every night unless I have to do the night shift at work or there’s a family emergency or etc.
