I did end up using one of my new bags of Beyond Steak today. Actually, I used 2/3 of it since it has 3 servings and only my husband and I were eating it. I just sauteed it with some onion and mushroom, made a gravy out of a half packet of onion soup mix and a tablespoon of cornstarch, and added a splash of accidentally vegan Worcestershire sauce. We had it over a steamed potato with some steamed green beans. I topped mine with a spoonful of Kite Hill vegan sour cream. Pretty good! It was the texture of really tender beef, like you might find in a braised stew or something. It was already seasoned with seasoning that reminded me of Dinty Moore beef stew. For those that don’t know, Dinty Moore is a canned beef stew with beef-like chunks. I mean, it’s definitely got real beef in it, but I’m guessing it’s cut with something cheaper but I don’t know for sure. So the flavoring did happen to go with the dish I made, but I’m not sure how it’d taste in others. But I thought it was pretty tasty, I’d buy it again, especially considering the nutrition (170 calories, 21 grams of protein, only 1 gram saturated fat, 2 grams of fiber). I’m a big fan of savory protein-rich foods and always have been so this really hit the spot for me. https://www.beyondmeat.com/en-US/products/beyond-steak
That sounds tasty! I like the idea of making a gravy out of the onion soup mix and a little bit of cornstarch. Sounds easy.
