Allow me to sing the praises of these light life tempeh “bacon” strips. Honestly, just forget about the word “bacon,” because they are nothing like bacon. Ha ha!

However, they are thin pieces of a very savory and delicious thing! My husband found these for super cheap at grocery outlet. Since I liked them, he went back and brought home a whole bunch. The nutrition on these is excellent, as long as the sodium is not a problem for you. Remember that real bacon is high in sodium, too!
Otherwise, nutritionally, I like these: high in protein, no saturated fat. And, of course, I love that these tempeh strips don’t require that a pig be killed. I get it that pork is delicious; it was one of my favorite meats when I was a kid growing up. For me, if I can eat other things that are also delicious and nutritious, then that’s really great. I don’t want to rely on foods that require harm to pigs if I can prevent it.

My husband fries these tempeh strips to go along with vegan egg and hashbrowns and baked beans that he makes for breakfast for me.
Instead of cooking up breakfast, yesterday I crumbled up the fried tempeh strips and put them on top of a Trader Joe’s salad combined with micro greens. Just sold the Trader Joe’s vegan creamy dill dressing on top. Delish!
Speaking of Trader Joe’s salad, it seems they no longer carry that wonderful vegan ranch crunch salad, that I posted about before.

So my husband has been buying some other salad that is all vegan except for feta cheese, which comes in a packet. He doesn’t put the feta cheese on there and throws it away. 🥲
For me, that is sad, because obviously we’re not helping cows by buying this salad and then throwing the feta cheese away. Sheesh. My husband eats plenty of cheese, so I asked him why he doesn’t he simply eat the feta cheese? But he says he doesn’t have anything specifically that he needs feta cheese for. Therefore, he throws it away.
Sure, I could eat the feta cheese … even though I don’t normally eat cheese. I’m not allergic or lactose intolerant, and .,. unlike what VegansTM will tell you, it’s not unhealthy to eat feta cheese; in fact, feta is a very good source of protein. However, I don’t feel like digging it out of the trashcan. And it seems a bit weird to ask my husband to save the feta cheese for me since I actually don’t want to eat feta cheese.
*sigh* I wish they still had the all-vegan salad available to buy.
Back to the tempeh strips!
I’m glad that we were able to find the light life tempeh bacon for so cheap. Only $1.99 per package at the grocery outlet in San Francisco California.

I wish that cheap prices for tasty and delicious, nutritious, vegan products like this could be the norm. I wish it could be easy for people to buy this tempeh bacon for a cheap and affordable price, everywhere all the time.
My husband likes to put grilled chicken on a salad like this, but he said these savory tempeh strips (fried and crumbled up, sprinkled on top), taste good on there, too. Seems like this tempeh could be a good alternative for grilled chicken in that type of scenario.
