Rice cakes turned into a sweet snack/dessert!

So my cute little boy loves to help grocery shop and he doesn’t really get the concept of skipping items when you already have them. I had been really into eating avocado on rice cakes with a bit of bagel seasoning but after a few weeks of that, I don’t know if I’ll ever want it again! So I already had one unopened pack and then he just had to pick up another pack (this was months ago). So I had two fully unopened packs sitting around. But then I thought to myself today, why can’t I make puppy chow/muddy buddies/garbage (usually PB, Chex, and chocolate) but with broken up rice cakes instead? So I did that! I actually had an opened pack of vegan white chocolate chips so I mixed that with my vegan dark chocolate chips, some PB and a plop of margarine and microwaved it. I didn’t really measure it. But I think about 1.5 cups chocolate chips, 1/3 cup margarine or butter and 3/4 cup PB is a good amount. Then I tossed it in some powdered sugar. Delicious! I don’t think they’re as crunchy as Chex mix although it’s been a long time since I had puppy chow/muddy buddies so I’m not sure. I don’t see why you can’t use that chocolate/PB mix on anything crunchy you have laying around, like popcorn, pretzels, nuts, etc.

I also had some abandoned barbeque seasoning rub that for some reason I thought would be a good purchase at Grocery Outlet. I think I was thinking, I’ll make all sorts of tofu out of it, but I didn’t. I’m never buying it again! I actually got a jar of bbq seasoning again at Grocery Outlet. But I bought it more for the cute jar + wooden spoon it comes with but still! Why do I think I’m going to eat all this bbq seasoning when I’m never going to? LOL. But I did use some of it and made a batch of bbq soy curls to put in the freezer. I mixed the seasoning with some water, some mushroom powder and nooch (to make it porky), some Sir Kensington spicy ketchup (a Grocery Outlet find. Stuff isn’t that good and retail is outrageous. I paid maybe a buck.), a bit of sugar, vinegar, red chili flakes and garlic powder and some fresh onion and just cooked it down a couple of times. I initially had too much BBQ seasoning and it was too salty so I just threw in some more soy curls to absorb the salt. Pretty good! I had a couple of small BBQ buns for lunch and packaged the rest to put in the freezer. I don’t know if I’ll ever go through all that bbq seasoning before it completely loses flavor. I’ll try to remember to use it to season veggies and potatoes but it’s not my favorite anyway. Hopefully, though, I learned my lesson and won’t buy it again. Probably not!
